    Ichiban (the First) Turret (Important Cultural Asset)

    This is a corner turret standing at the east end of the south of Ninomaru (Outer Bailey). It was constructed in 1628, and underwent several repairs. During the Edo period, in total there stood seven corner turrets which fortified the strategic points of the walls of south of Ninomaru . Of the seven turrets, only Ichiban and Rokuban (the Sixth) Turrets exist today.
