    Sakura-mon Gate (Important Cultural Asset)

Sakura-mon Gate is the main entrance of the Honmaru (Inner Bailey) and the Main Tower can be viewed straight ahead from the gate. The name of "Sakura-mon", which was from the Toyotomi period, was derived from the row of beautiful cherry trees ("sakura") standing along this site. Huge stones surrounding Sakura-mon Masugata (square-shaped defenses) stand closely side by side, including Tako-ishi Stone (Octopus Stone), thelargest stone in the Castle, and Furisode-ishi Stone, the third largest.
